Stops for both scheduled and shuttle buses are located right next to the main entrances to the terminal (Departure Level/Level 1).

For a smooth check-in we politely request that you check in at the counters on the departure level 2 hours before charter flights and 1 hours before regular scheduled flights

Rail & Fly from Dortmund

Dortmund Airport is a part of Deutsche Bahn's (DB) Rail & Fly offers. These tickets include rail journeys between Dortmund Airport and all of the 5,600+ DB railway stations. Rail & Fly tickets can be purchased from Germanwings, for example, as well as many other airlines, travel agents and organizers. 

With a Rail & Fly ticket, you can also use the airport shuttle to Holzwickede station free of charge.

Airport Express from Dortmund Central Station

A non-stop shuttle-bus connects Dortmund Airport to the Central bus station in Dortmund (opposite the main railway station). The journey lasts 25 minutes and costs 6,00 Euros per passenger. Children between 6 and 14 travel for 2 Euros; children under 6 travel free.

The airport can also be reached by taking the U47 underground train to Aplerbeck and then changing onto the 440 Bus

When international trade fairs and exhibitions are taking place, Airport Express operates a changed route, making an additional stop at “Messe Westfalenhallen”.

The point of departure at the airport will be from the B1. Tickets cost 6,00 Euros for adults (children 2,00 Euro) and can be purchased from the bus driver.

A bus service 1,50 Euros per passenger runs regularly about every 20 minutes between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.  Approximately five minutes is required for the journey to the terminal building. Regional trains run eight times per hour from Holzwickede Station to the Intercity and long-distance transport hubs at Dortmund and Hamm.

bus route C41 from Unna station

The C41 Bus (operated by VKU) runs hourly direct to the Terminal.

AirportExpress from Hamm (Westf.) Railway Station.

The AirportExpress from Hamm – the daily bus link for the early starter: At 3.30 a.m. and 4.25 a.m. you can board the bus at the new ‘Ökonomierat-Peitzmeier-Platz’ bus stop near the TÜV office on Richard-Wagner-Strasse. The bus will take you directly to Dortmund Airport. The trip costs €7 for adults and €2 for children.

There is also a return service from Dortmund Airport to Hamm, leaving at 10.50 p.m., after the last planes of the day land.

For extra peace of mind, this service will wait for passengers whose flights are delayed.
