Safety regulations
Each piece of luggage must show an address. Unmarked luggage will not be accepted on flights. The transport of animals, weapons, knives and dangerous substances, such as ammunition, lighter fuel and batteries, is subject to special regulations which will be provided by the airlines. Objects not permitted found during security checks will be disposed of by the security personnel, unless there is an alternative option such as depositing such objects (e. g. in the passenger’s parked car). Dortmund Airport also offers passengers the opportunity to send small items to their home upon payment of a € 5 fee (only within Germany).

Electronic devices
The use of electronic devices during take off and landing is not permitted.
Knives
Knives and other sharp objects may not be taken on board the aircraft.
Matches and cigarette lighters
Matches and cigarette lighters (including petrol lighters, e. g. Zippo) may not be carried in either cabin or stowed baggage. These objects may only be carried in the passenger’s pockets. In the case of petrol lighters, only after the removal of the inner wadding.

There are restrictions on liquids which can be taken through the security control on fl ights originating in the EU, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. This also applies for domestic flights:
• All containers with a maximum capacity of 100 ml must be packed in a transparent, resealable 1 litre plastic bag.
• Only one bag is permitted per passenger.
• The bag must be completely sealed.
Liquids also includes gels, pastes, lotions, mixtures of liquids and solids and the content of pressurised containers, such as toothpaste, hair gel, shaving foam, aerosols and other items with a similar consistency. Some items may be excluded from the restrictions if the liquid is needed during the journey for medical or special dietary purposes.
The same is true for baby food.
